Today in our studio we had a Mercedes Benz G55 AMG. The owner came for a window tint re-installation after a long time with the old film.
The Mercedes-Benz G 55 AMG is the sort of car that turns heads wherever it goes.
Powered by a hand-built 5.5-liter supercharged AMG V8 engine, the G 55 AMG is the definition of having the best of both worlds. A serious off-roader with enough power to murder most sports cars.
Around 2008, this G55 had a tinting installation. However, it's not a high-performance product, and it's reduced in performance over the years.
The owner wanted to install a new and better film this time. That way he can protect his car and himself for a long time without any worries.
At first, we checked the previous tinting installation. We thought that the installation was really neat and well done but it wasn't like that.
It turned out that it was privacy glass, not tinting. Only the front and front sides were tinted. Privacy glass is only meant for privacy protection.
To be honest we were a little bit nervous. Even though we have a lot of experience, this case was complicated.
The owner asked for this combination:
Now it's time for filming removal and detailed masking. Because a long time has passed, there is a lot of film adhesive left in the glass. That's why this installation will take a while.
However, if the film and residual glue are not well removed, it is difficult to expect a clean quality installation. Therefore, the removal process is carried out meticulously.
For a clean wash, we use water and cleaning solution. But even if you cover the dashboard with a large cover, there is an absorbance limit.
Even with basic waterproofing, older vehicles have lost a lot of this functionality. And recently released vehicles are more likely to experience errors due to water. This is due to increased electronic equipment in cars.
To avoid water intrusion in the car, we use Shoak Shield.
The SoakShield rope is also used to collect the water that would absorb into the top layer of what the dashboard is covered in. Example: Leather, Suede, Vinyl, and Cloth. When water is left to sit on the edges of the dash it can cause the material to unglue and curl up on the edges, damaging the whole dashboard.
Made of microfiber strands braided together by hand for window tinters by tinters. Used by Installers World Wide. This braided Absorbent rope is tucked between the bottom of the windshield and the dashboard to stop and soak up the water running down behind the dash and causing issues with electronics.
The result is a natural black on the outside and clear vision from the inside. High heat protection and privacy protection.
Shure X has super-high thermal infrared protection with 95% and Optic W with 81% thermal infrared protection. Both products have vivid visibility and zero radio interference because they are ceramic films.
Now the owner can enjoy more privacy and heat protection added.
And the visibility is much better now.
It was a long and difficult installation, but it's finally complete.
